Following a productive test at the Roar Before the Rolex 24, Memo Rojas has been confirmed in Scuderia Corsa’s Ferrari 488 GTE car for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener.
The Mexican driver, a three-time overall winner of the Rolex 24. will join Alessandro Pier Guidi, Daniel Serra and Alexandre Premat at the wheel of the GT Le Mans class contender, which makes its competition debut next weekend.
“We had contemplated running the 24 Hours of Daytona and this time with Ferrari in GTLM, which is super competitive,” Rojas said. “With the Ford GT, Porsche, Corvette, BTW and other factory equipment, it’s a great opportunity to fight in a very strong category.
“In addition, running with a legendary brand like Ferrari, even though it’s the first time I’m with them, is something that excites me a lot.”
The Giacomo Mattioli-owned squad has confirmed a Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup program for its new GTE-spec car, with the team having also putting in a GTE-Pro entry request for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
If accepted, it would join its already confirmed GTE-Am entry for Bill Sweedler, Townsend Bell and a third, to-be-announced Silver-rated driver.
