The new Ford GT is undergoing its first test at Daytona International Speedway this week, with Chip Ganassi Racing putting the Multimatic-built car through its paces over the course of today and Wednesday.

Ganassi managing director Mike Hull confirmed to Sportscar365 that Ganassi has taken delivery of its first chassis last week, with this being the car’s first test since its arrived.

Ganassi’s chassis joined the Multimatic test chassis at Daytona, sources confirmed to Sportscar365. Both ran the majority of the afternoon, although rain showers in the morning limited some running.

Hull added that Scott Pruett and Joey Hand, the team’s two full-season drivers in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship this season aboard its No. 01 Riley-Ford, will be testing this week and throughout the team’s extensive testing program, which is planned to run at various circuits through the winter.

It’s been an interesting time period for Hull, who’s noted a wide and deep level of interest from drivers.

Ford and Multimatic are yet to announce any official drivers for the Ganassi Ford GT program.

Scott Maxwell and Billy Johnson have primarily been behind the wheel of the Ford GT since its rollout earlier this summer.

Ford released its most recent behind-the-scenes video of the car’s development last week.
