Taffin Named New ORECA Technical Director

Formula 1 engineering and management veteran Remi Taffin has been named ORECA’s new technical director, replacing the departed David Floury.

Taffin, who holds a long history with Renault Sport through roles with engine performance, customer support, as well as director of operations and engine director of its F1 team, will take over the role in December.

He replaces Floury, who has taken a full-time job with Toyota Gazoo Racing’s FIA World Endurance Championship effort.

Floury had served as chief race engineer, which he held as part of ORECA’s operational support to the Japanese manufacturer’s LMP1 and Le Mans Hypercar program that ended at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Within the Group, Taffin will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of the structuring of ORECA’s technical departments at a time when ORECA Technology is carrying out numerous leading sports and technical projects with numerous partners.

“His technical skills, mastery of new technologies, high level of experience and customer philosophy will all serve the company at a time when it is experiencing an important stage in its development as one of the world leaders in the construction of racing cars,” said ORECA Group President Hugues de Chaunac.

“He will succeed David Floury, a key player in our success in endurance racing who helped ORECA to achieve a significant number of sporting, technical and commercial successes.”

Taffin added: “I am impatient to start working with Hugues and his teams at ORECA, a benchmark in the in the world of motorsport, particularly in the various classes in endurance racing.

“The technical and organizational challenges necessary to stay ahead, and the culture and richness of current and future ORECA projects have definitely convinced me I want to play a major role in the next stages of ORECA’s development.”
