Sebring Halted Due to Lightning in Area

The 1000 Miles of Sebring has been red flagged for a second time due to lightning in the area with just over an hour left on the clock.

Matthieu Vaxiviere held a comfortable lead in the No. 36 Alpine A480 Gibson when a safety car was first called, followed by a red flag not much later.

Sebastien Buemi held second place in the No. 8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid, with Romain Dumas third for Glickenhaus.

LMP2 is led by United Autosports. Paul di Resta was behind the wheel of the No. 23 Oreca 07 Gibson when the red flag was called, with a lead of some eight seconds over Team WRT’s No. 31 car in the hands of Robin Frijns.

Team WRT second car, driven by Ferdinand Habsburg, was in third place ahead of Prema.

United’s second car, which was in contention, fell away after the car had to go off strategy when Will Owen began struggling with tyre degradation.

It has since dropped to eight in class, behind the two JOTA cars and Team Penske.

Porsche regained the lead in GTE-Pro from Corvette after the previous restart after the initial red flag, which was caused by a big crash for Toyota’s Jose Maria Lopez.

Tommy Milner was leading at the restart, but his No. 64 Corvette C8.R was overtaken by the No. 92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 driven by Kevin Estre shortly thereafter.

Christensen was at the wheel of the leading Porsche when the race was stopped, ahead of Milner and Richard Lietz in the No. 91 car.

GTE-Am continues to be led by NorthWest AMR and their No. 98 Aston Martin Vantage AMR from the No. 33 TF Sport Aston Martin, with Team Project 1’s No. 56 Porsche.
