Perrin Reveals Full-Scale LMP1 Model

Perrinn Limited has taken the wraps off a full-scale model of its proposed prototype, the MyLMP1, which is targeted to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016. (En Français)

The British manufacturer, which has opted for an open-source and fan-based approach to its LMP1 program, is taking its mock-up design on a tour of Europe at select events, with the hopes of gaining further interest from investors and potential partners.

“It was important for us to build and show this model,” Nicolas Perrin told Endurance-Info. “Now we can spend more time to showcase the replica and see what emerges. This will make the project much more concrete.

“The perception of the project is necessary as it increases interest for investors. Overall, I’m satisfied because people understand what we want to do. We’re working tirelessly to ensure that everything is completed as quickly as possible.”

Perrin said work continues in the development of the car, which could begin on-track testing early next year.

“The next step is the construction of the MyLMP1,” he said. “Before we start the real model, there are many virtual projects. The model allows us to identify ourselves as a serious project.

“It’s a long process but the confidence is there. The idea is to start the build of the car by the end of the year. Besides being able to run the car [ourselves], we would also be ready to sell them.

“I’m confident in the competitiveness of the car knowing there is the possibility to evolve rapidly… We have taken a good step.”
