Scott McLaughlin is set to return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship grid at Motul Petit Le Mans as part of Tower Motorsports’ LMP2 lineup.
The NTT IndyCar Series star previously contested the Rolex 24 at Daytona with the Ricky Capone-led squad before taking an LMP2 class win Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
McLaughlin will drive alongside Michelin Endurance Cup driver Kyffin Simpson, with no word given on who will complete the lineup as the mandatory Bronze-rated driver.
John Farano is yet to return to the team in a driving capacity after his accident at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in May. He was replaced by Salih Yoluc at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, while Rodrigo Sales joined the team at Road America.
The team’s No. 8 Oreca 07 Gibson will sport a new, predominantly blue livery for the ten-hour race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, courtesy of new sponsorship from business solutions provider Acumatica.
The Kirkland, WA.-based company announced a multi-year partnership with McLaughlin on Tuesday.
McLaughlin’s Team Penske IndyCar teammate Josef Newgarden, who joined the New Zealander at Tower for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, will make his IMSA GTP class debut at Petit Le Mans as the third driver aboard the No. 7 Porsche 963.
