Ferrari has announced that Yifei Ye has joined its stable of official drivers for the 2024 season.

Chinese driver Ye makes the move to Ferrari from Porsche, having spent the last two seasons as a Porsche Asia Pacific Motorsport Selected Driver, notably racing for the Hertz Team JOTA squad in the Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship this year.

However, Ye revealed last week that he was moving on from Porsche amid speculation that he is in line for a place in the AF Corse-run No. 83 customer Ferrari entry in Hypercar.

Ferrari made no mention of Ye’s 2024 program in its brief release confirming his arrival, stating only that his plans will be “announced shortly.”

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Yifei to Ferrari, a driver who despite his young age has been able to emerge as one of the fastest in the World Endurance Championship,” said Ferrari’s global head of endurance Antonello Coletta.

“Excellent results stand out in Yifei’s endurance racing career: from this starting point, we’re confident that we can build a positive pathway together within the Prancing Horse family.”

Ye added: “When I heard I would be an official Ferrari driver, I was thrilled. For me, this is a dream come true. This new sporting chapter opening with the Prancing Horse is definitely a milestone in my career.”

So far, Robert Kubica is the only driver to have been confirmed for the No. 83 Ferrari, which is simply entered under the AF Corse banner.

Should Ye join Kubica, it would reprise a partnership that saw the pair win the European Le Mans Series LMP2 crown for Team WRT, alongside Louis Deletraz.
