Michael McCann led the way following a pair of practice sessions for this week’s Porsche Carrera Cup North America season-opener at Sebring International Raceway.

McCann, in the No. 8 McCann Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, reeled off a best lap of 2:04.094 in Wednesday’s opening session at the 3.7-mile Florida airfield circuit to edge out the No. 24 Kellymoss Porsche of Loek Hartog by 0.046 seconds.

Carrera Cup North America rookie Hartog was followed by the No. 78 Topp Racing Performance Porsche of Ryan Yardley, followed by JDX Racing’s Zachary Vanier and the quickest of the cars from the second session, the No. 2 ACI Motorsports machine of Jimmy Llibre in fifth.

Llibre’s 2:04.444 lap time edged out the pair of MDK Motorsports entries from Dan Clarke and Gustav Burton, with Alex Sedwick completing the top-eight in his JDX Racing-run Porsche, with all of the times set from the opening 30-minute session.

Kellymoss’ Jordan Wallace led the Pro-Am ranks in the No. 23 Porsche, thanks to a 2:05.234 that was also set in the first outing.

It came despite a 2:05.289 lap time laid down by teammate Alan Metni in the second, 40-minute session.

Chris Bellomo, meanwhile, was quickest in the newly-named Masters class in his No. 68 Kellymoss Porsche.

While the opening session ran without any major incident, a red flag came out in the final ten minutes of Session 2 for an incident by Sabre Cook in the No. 37 MDK Porsche in Turn 5.

The session restarted with less than two minutes to go, although no cars were able to get a competitive lap set.

Separate stoppages for the No. 74 MDK Porsche of Kenton King in Turn 13 and a Turn 16 incident for ACI driver Roberto Tutino occurred in the first and second sessions, respectively.

Neither required a red flag, with both cars having rejoined.

Qualifying is set to get underway Thursday at 9:15 a.m. EDT.
