The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps was red-flagged with just under two hours to go following a major crash on the Kemmel Straight involving Earl Bamber and Sean Gelael.

Bamber’s No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R was fighting the Proton Competition Porsche 963 of Neel Jani for third place coming through Radillion as both were lapping Gelael’s No. 31 WRT BMW M4 GT3.

Contact was made when Bamber moved out of Jani’s slipstream to the right-hand side of the track and into the path of Gelael, sending the Cadillac driver spearing into the barriers at high speed.

Gelael was then collected by Bamber’s stricken car as it rebounded on to the track, the Indonesian driver suffering a significant impact with the guard rail of his own.

Both Bamber and Gelael were unharmed in the crash.

The race was immediately red-flagged with one hour and 47 minutes left on the clock.

Ferrari held a one-two out front at the time of the stoppage with the No. 51 499P of Alessandro Pier Guidi leading the sister No. 51 car of Antonio Fuoco.

The Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R of Morris Schuring led the way in LMGT3.
