Loek Hartog stormed to pole position for the opening Porsche Carrera Cup North America round of the weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The Kellymoss driver took his Pro class championship-leading No. 24 Kellymoss Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car to a best lap of 1:36.985.
Hartog’s lap was one-tenth clear of second-placed Yves Baltas in the No. 15 MDK Motorsports Porsche.
Teammate Dan Clarke was third in the No. 64 Porsche, with Michael Cooper fourth in his Baby Bull Racing entry and Zachary Vanier completing the top-five for JDX Racing.
Alex Sedgwick was sixth, ahead of Jimmy Llibre, Michael McCann, Colin Kaminsky and Angel Benitez, who rounded out the top-ten overall.
Pro-Am class pole honors went to the No. 23 Kellymoss Porsche of Jordan Wallace, who reeled off a 1:38.989 lap time with seconds left on the clock.
Wallace bumped Baby Bull’s Moisey Uretsky, who held provisional pole, to third, thanks also to a late improvement by GMG Racing team owner/driver James Sofronas, who will start second in class.
Matt Halcome, meanwhile, claimed the pole in the Masters category.
The session had a brief red flag roughly halfway through the 30-minute session.
The first race of the weekend gets underway this evening at 5:55 p.m. EDT with live coverage on PorscheCarreraCup.us, Peacock and IMSA.tv.
