Luca Engstler will make his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut with Iron Lynx at this weekend’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The German will partner up with compatriot and fellow DTM racer Maximilian Paul aboard the No. 19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, which is entered into the GTD Pro class.
Paul and Engstler have been called up to pilot the No. 19 car for the six-hour race at Indianapolis as all of the drivers that have previously driven the car this season are engaged elsewhere.
Franck Perera and Jordan Pepper, who raced at the previous Michelin Endurance Cup round at Watkins Glen, are unable to compete as a result of clashing commitments with the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup round at Monza.
The same goes for Mirko Bortolotti, while Andrea Caldarelli is piloting the No. 63 Lamborghini SC63 alongside Matteo Cairoli and Romain Grosjean at Indianapolis.
Engstler is in his first season racing Lamborghini machinery, having switched brands after previously serving as an Audi factory driver and scoring an overall podium in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa last year.
So far this season, he took his maiden DTM victory at Oschersleben and currently leads the Gold Cup standings in the Fanatec GT Europe Sprint Cup after class wins at Brands Hatch and Hockenheim.
