GetSpeed Adds Ellis, McIntosh to Suzuka 1000km Lineup

GetSpeed Performance has confirmed that Mercedes-AMG factory ace Philip Ellis and Bronze-rated driver Anthony McIntosh will form part of the team’s lineup for the Suzuka 1000km later this year.

Ellis and McIntosh will share the No. 69 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with Luxembourg racer Steve Jans, a team regular who has driven for the Adam Osieka-led stable in a variety of championships including the Asian Le Mans Series and International GT Open.

McIntosh, for his part, is set to return to the cockpit of a Mercedes-AMG car for the first time since the Asian LMS finale in February, where he drove for 2 Seas Motorsport.

There, the American racer most notably took a class victory at the Dubai Autodrome, driving alongside Parker Thompson and Ben Barnicoat.

He recently made his FIA World Endurance Championship debut in the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, scoring an LMGT3 podium with Racing Spirit of Leman.

GetSpeed’s No. 69 Mercedes-AMG is one of seven cars from the Stuttgart manufacturer that appeared on the initial version of the Suzuka 1000km entry list, which was released last week.

The German squad is set to be joined by a pair of Pro entries from GruppeM Racing and Craft-Bamboo Racing, while Heart of Racing by SPS, Goodsmile Racing and 75 Express also have cars entered.

The fourth round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge season which takes place on Sept. 12-14.
