Mathieu Jaminet will depart Porsche at the end of the season, bringing an end to a ten-year relationship with the Stuttgart manufacturer.

The Frenchman, who won thus year’s GTP drivers’ title in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Porsche Penske Motorsport, revealed in a post on social media on Friday that he has chosen to “start a new chapter.”

“It’s been one of the hardest decision of my life, but I felt it was the right time to move on,” Jaminet wrote.

“I’ll never forget what this brand did for me ten years ago: taking a kid with no backing, no money, just a dream and giving me a chance.

“To everyone who has been part of this journey, teammates, engineers, mechanics and friends: thank you. We achieved things I once only dreamed of.

“Finishing with an IMSA championship feels like the perfect goodbye.”

After first debuting in Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2015, Jaminet quickly moved up the Porsche ladder, becoming a Porsche Young Professional and stepping up to GT3 competition in 2017.

In 2018, he won the ADAC GT Masters title and became part of Porsche’s factory GTLM effort in the WeatherTech Championship as a driver for the Endurance Cup rounds.

In 2021, he took class victories at both the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and Motul Petit Le Mans with WeatherTech Raceway, before going on to win the inaugural GTD Pro title with Pfaff Motorsports alongside Matt Campbell the following year.

The following year, the Frenchman was selected to form part of Porsche’s roster of factory LMDh drivers and captured the 963’s first race victory in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

His run with the Porsche GTP program culminated when he and Campbell won the drivers’ championship at Motul Petit Le Mans earlier this month.

Some of Jaminet’s other Porsche accomplishments include wins in the Kyalami 9 Hour and Michelin 24H Dubai.

Jaminet’s final race with Porsche will take place at next week’s 8 Hours of Bahrain, where he will pilot the No. 5 Porsche as part of an adjusted lineup that features the debuting Laurin Heinrich.
