Peter Dempsey saved the best for last in qualifying for tomorrow’s GT America powered by AWS race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, putting his Risi Competizione Maserati MC20 GT2 on overall pole in his final flying lap.

The FIA Bronze-rated driver, who is giving the car its North America professional race debut, recorded a best lap of 1:24.201 to outpace the No. 56 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Memo Gidley by nearly seven-tenths.

The Maserati is racing in the top SRO3 class this weekend, despite the series having a GT2 class available for SRO GT2-spec machinery.

Tony Davis qualified third in the No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, while Joel Cortes and Scott Blind completed the top-five in their Porsche 911 GT3 Rs fielded by RS1 and Ruckus Racing, respectively.

Damir Hot took the GT4 class pole in his No. 25 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, ahead of David Lecko and Mike Johnson, competing in the Cup and Invitational classes.

Race 1 of the weekend is set for Saturday at 8:05 a.m. EST with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
