Nearly half of the cars that took part in Superpole for Saturday’s Desder Indianapolis 8 Hour have incurred technical infractions found in scrutineering, which has significantly shaken up the starting order at the front of the grid.

Four cars: the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, No. 69 Archangel Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, No. 80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and No. 28 RS1 Porsche, have all been re-ordered due to ground clearance violations.

Per a number of stewards bulletins released on Saturday morning, all of the offending cars’ lap times have been invalidated from Superpole.

The GMG Porsche, which qualified 0.002 seconds behind of pole-sitter Robby Foley, will now start 9th, while the Archangel McLaren is set to roll off from seventh on the grid, the Lone Star Mercedes-AMG in eighth and RS1 Porsche in tenth.

The No. 12 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo was initially flagged for exceeding boost levels but it was found the team was “following direction from SRO to not change the pboost settings” and has escaped any form of infraction.

A final grid was published at 11 a.m. EST, confirming that the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO will lead the 27-car grid to the start, following Robby Foley’s pole on Friday.

BMW, Ferrari Get Pre-Race Power Adjustments

SRO Motorsports Group also confirmed a revised Balance of Performance on race day morning, which sees power adjustments for both the BMW and Ferrari.

The BMW will have a boost reduction across nearly all RPM levels, while the Ferrari has been given a slight increase at the mid-to-high end range.

There have been no changes to any cars’ minimum weights for the eight-hour season finale, which gets underway at 12:30 p.m. EST.
