After only two days of testing, the Nissan LMP1 squad is packing up at Sebring International Raceway after sustaining damage to its GT-R LM NISMO that’s unrepairable on-site.

A team spokesperson told Sportscar365 that an undisclosed carbon piece broke on the car, resulting in the curtailed test.

On Monday and Tuesday, Nissan drivers Marc Gené and Olivier Pla got in a limited number of laps, with an estimated maximum total of 25 over the two days.

Nissan’s new signing Max Chilton, plus fellow Brits Harry Tincknell and Jann Mardenborough arrived at Sebring yesterday evening and were scheduled to drive from today until Friday but were not able to run at all.

With it being the chassis they intend to take to the FIA WEC Prologue test at Paul Ricard at the end of the month, the Japanese manufacturer is now exploring the possibility of scheduling an additional test between now and Paul Ricard.

Although the spokesperson didn’t want to disclose the actual number of laps that the Nissan had run, nor the best lap time it achieved, he said they were quite happy with the way things were going.
