Pirelli World Challenge Championships driver Roger Rodas, 38, was one of two killed in an auto accident in California on Saturday.
Rodas was driving the car that also killed actor Paul Walker, 40, star of the “Fast and the Furious” franchise of films.The two were leaving a charity fundraiser event held at the Always Evolving auto performance shop based in Valencia, Calif.
Rodas just completed his rookie season in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class with his Always Evolving race team and a Ford Mustang Boss 302S.
In 10 starts, Rodas had a best finish of fifth place at Toronto in July and finished 13th in the class standings, one spot behind the top rookie, Jim Taggart.
Rodas and Walker were also active philanthropists and business partners in Always Evolving.
World Challenge officials offered their thoughts and condolences. No information regarding a memorial service has yet been made available.
