Ryan Eversley will move to the No. 42 RealTime Racing Acura TLX GT for this weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge round at Lime Rock Park, replacing team owner Peter Cunningham, Acura confirmed on Tuesday.
Eversley’s No. 43 car sustained significant damage in a multi-car accident in last weekend’s round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, forcing the Wisconsin-based team to consolidate efforts around a single entry for the event.
“The No. 43 car took quite a hit against the concrete barrier in Sunday’s race,” Cunningham said. “To repair the chassis properly, we need to get it back to our workshop, and because of the quick turnaround, it would’ve been impossible to affect a proper fix in time.
“Since Ryan is on top of his game and in a better points position, it made sense for him to carry the RealTime flag, to hopefully generate the best results for Acura in Connecticut this weekend.”
Eversley earned the team’s first podium of the 2016 season at CTMP, finishing third in Race 1 and will be looking to continue the team’s legacy of success at the 1.5-mile Connecticut bullring.
“I’m obviously very disappointed to have to switch chassis,” Eversley said. “But I am extremely thankful to my teammate and friend Peter for giving up his seat for the weekend.
“Lime Rock should suit our Acura TLX pretty well and I’m determined to give these RealTime guys something to smile about after a terrible second race at Mosport.”
