Change Racing to Field Single Lamborghini Entry for Detroit

Change Racing will field only a single Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for drivers Spencer Pumpelly and Corey Lewis in this weekend’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic at Detroit, having elected not to run its second entry for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round.

Both Bill Sweedler and Townsend Bell, who drove the team’s No. 11 car at both Sebring and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, will focus their entire attention on this weekend’s Le Mans Test Day.

The pairing will be making their second consecutive Le Mans start, alongside Jeff Segal in a Scuderia Corsa-entered Ferrari F458 Italia in the GTE-Am class.

Detroit, meanwhile, will mark Change Racing’s street course debut, as well as the first street race for the Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

“Our approach will be the same for Detroit as it was for our first IMSA sprint race last month,” said team principal Robby Benton.

“Our core focus is to execute on every phase of the weekend and continue to build our notebook to keep gaining momentum.

“It is a new experience for the team, but we’ve got a great resource in Spencer with all the experience that he has for us to lean on him a bit. There’s basically no room for error on this track, and traffic will be key for Spencer and Corey with three classes out there.”

Track action for the 100-minute WeatherTech Championship race, featuring Prototype, Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona competitors, gets underway on Friday.
