The first race of the N24 Qualifiers weekend has been red-flagged in the opening hour following a serious seven-car accident.

The incident, which came at the 25-minute mark of the scheduled four-hour enduro on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, occurred at the Klostertal section, resulting in an immediate red flag, which is largely unprecedented unless in the case of drivers and/or spectators in life-threatening conditions.

According to a statement from the ADAC, seven cars were involved, with “rescue operations” currently underway for “several injured drivers.”

The majority of the cars have been parked in pit lane for the last hour, although 42 cars not yet back to pits due to circuit being entirely blocked.

The cars involved in the accident are:

No. 27 Wahl / Rönnefarth / Dumarey / Böckmann (Aston Martin Vantage GT3)
No. 111 Becker / Spölgen (BMW 325i)
No. 121 Miettinen / Berghult (BMW 325i)
No. 410 Croci / Larbi / Ackermann / Le Bihan (Porsche Cayman GTS)
No. 448 Klinkmüller / Beckwermert (Porsche Cayman CM12)
No. 503 Tamm / Egger / Hökfelt (Toyota Supra)
No. 992 Griesemann / Griesemann / Adorf / Holzer (Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Manthey)

Per a further update, the race has been suspended “until further notice.”

The No. 23 Gamota Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO of David Jahn had been leading the race from the start.

Verstappen Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which qualified sixth in the hands of Lucas Auer, was demoted to ninth on the grid after a three-place grid position penalty for contact with a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in qualifying.

Auer took the start in the Verstappen entry, with four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen yet to get in the car.
