Black Swan Racing has suspended its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program, until further notice, following the sudden passing of the father of team owner Tim Pappas on Monday.

The GT Daytona squad, which has fielded a Porsche 911 GT3 R for Pappas and Nicky Catsburg, will miss this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America as a result.

“We lost an amazing person on Monday,” Pappas said. “Unfortunately, losing my dad happened suddenly, without any warning.  I am devastated as he’s been an amazing father, grandfather, mentor and my best friend.

“All of my attention is now focused on my family. Until after we celebrate my father’s life, I cannot begin to think about anything else.”

Black Swan has taken part in all but two GTD races this season, having skipped the Detroit and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park rounds due to business commitments for Pappas.

No word has been given on a potential restart of the program.
