Rain arrived at Road Atlanta during the warm-up session for Motul Petit Le Mans on Saturday morning with the cars taking to the track on wet tires for the first time this weekend.
The pole-sitting Team Penske Oreca 07 Gibson of Juan Pablo Montoya was quickest despite the team having limited experience with the car in wet conditions.
Montoya’s best lap time was a 1:25.290, with the fastest times over 13 seconds slower than those set in dry practice and qualifying earlier in the weekend.
2015 overall race winner Nick Tandy was fastest in GT Le Mans with the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR, while fellow factory Porsche driver Joerg Bergmeister topped the GT Daytona category in his Park Place Motorsports car.
Pato O’Ward led the way in Prototype Challenge for Performance Tech Motorsports.
The race is expected to get underway in dry conditions but rain is set to arrive in the final couple of hours of the race.
Petit Le Mans will take the green at 11:05 a.m. EDT with live coverage on FS1.
