2019 ‘Super Sebring’ Schedule Released

The preliminary event schedule for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship double header at Sebring International Raceway has been released. 

The March 13-16 event will feature the 67th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on its traditional Saturday race day, with the new 1000 Miles of Sebring WEC race set to run from 4 p.m. – 12 a.m. on Friday evening.

WEC’s first trip back to the Florida airfield circuit since its inaugural race in 2012 will begin the weekend prior, with a two-day private test on March 9-10, with a pair of Free Practice sessions scheduled for Wed., March 13.

It will be followed by FP3 on Thursday afternoon and qualifying from 9:30-10:20 p.m. on Thursday evening.

WeatherTech Championship qualifying, meanwhile, has been moved to Friday morning, from 9:30-11 a.m., in the only significant change in the series’ standard timetable. 

The two-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge race takes place from 12:05-2:05 p.m., followed by the 1000-mile/eight-hour WEC round, which will run into the night.

IMSA Prototype Challenge will be the fourth series in action over the weekend, with its 1 hour and 45-minute race taking place on Thursday afternoon.

First-day sales of tickets and parking, meanwhile, rose more than 314 percent over opening- day sales for the 2018 event, with a large percentage of reserved trackside parking spaces and Sebring’s premium ticket, Club Sebring, sold on day one.

“The addition of the WEC 1000 Miles of Sebring to the legendary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring schedule is already proving to be a huge success,” said track president and general manager of Sebring International Raceway.

“Our phones have been ringing non-stop and online sales have been amazing. We’re not only seeing a tremendous response from our returning fans but also a large influx of new fans from Europe and Canada alike.

“The activity we’ve seen is backing up our claim to this being one of the greatest weekends of sports car racing in the history of the United States.”
