Trent Hindman and Alan Brynjolfsson have claimed victory in the second Pirelli GT4 America SprintX round at Road America, as champions in the GT4 East classes have been crowned.

Brynjolfsson took his No. 77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport to a 22.020-second victory over the No. 34 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Matt Fassnacht, who along with Christian Szymczak, claimed the GT4 East Am championship.

The VOLT Lighting-sponsored Porsche took over the lead following the round of pit stops and driver changes thanks to an impressive charge by Trent Hindman from last on the grid, due to the team reverting to a backup car following a race-ending accident on Saturday.

Guy Cosmo led the early stages of the race, which was shortened by 10 minutes due to heavy rain that impacted Sunday’s schedule, before handing over to co-driver Patrick Byrne, who faded to third at the end in the No. 89 RENNtech Mercedes.

Cosmo and Byrne, however, took home GT4 SprintX Pro-Am class honors, ahead of the No. 47 Nolasport Porsche of Matt Travis and Jason Hart, who rebounded from an electrical issue at the start.

The No. 19 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4 was fourth, while Drew Staveley completed the top-five overall in the No. 24 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4.

Staveley’s finish was enough to give co-driver Karl Wittmer the GT4 East Pro-Am title, following a late-race pace around Wittmer’s title rival Justin Raphael, who came home seventh in the No. 29 Classic BMW entry.

The No. 2 GMG Racing Porsche of Jason Bell and Alec Udell was 9th after a drive-through penalty for Bell due to a pit lane infringement. The car had been running second overall at the time.

GT4 SprintX Am class honors, meanwhile, went to the No. 51 Panoz Avezzano GT4 of Matt Keegan and Preston Calvert, who finished 11th overall and head into next month’s season finale with a 40-point lead in class.

The GT4 SprintX Pro-Am title race sees Stephen Cameron Racing’s Sean Quinlan Gregory Liefooghe with just a four-point lead over Travis and Hart, of Nolasport.

RESULTS: Race 2
