Nick Tandy and Porsche were invited to Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, which saw the Englishman turn demonstration laps in his Coca-Cola-sponsored Porsche 911 RSR prior to the start of the 500-mile race at the famed Alabama speedway.
Tandy completed a large burnout in front of the 80,000-plus spectators before completing a lap in speeds of excess of 100 mph on the 2.66-mile oval.
It came the day after Porsche clinching the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTLM manufacturers’ championship in the Motul Petit Le Mans at nearby Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, with Tandy’s teammates Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber winning the drivers’ title.
Porsche has previous history at Talladega, with Mark Donohue having set the fastest circuit lap of 221.160 mph in a Porsche 917/30 in 1975.
Do your thing Tandy. Share a Coke with @TalladegaSuperS!
