Reigning IMSA Prototype Challenge champion Rodrigo Pflucker has joined Precision Performance Motorsports for a full season run in the IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup.
The 23-year-old Peruvian will team up with Brandon Gdovic at the wheel of the team’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, which is fresh off a run in last weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Pflucker will contest all eight rounds of the newly expanded championship, which kicks off at Long Beach in April.
The former F4 South America champion impressed in his LMP3 season last year with Forty7 Motorsports, highlighted by a win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
“Since I started talking with PPM about the possibility of racing in the Sprint Cup this year, I noticed that we share the same goals for the 2019 season,” he said.
“I believe we will make a great team and will work hard to meet expectations.
“As PPM has shown its capacity and potential since competing in stock car racing and then in sports car racing, I am very motivated by what awaits us.”
“The 2020 season will be a challenge, one that I assume as a great incentive.
“We will be the class with more cars, and I have witnessed the level of professionalism of the teams and drivers.”
In addition to the Sprint Cup, Gdovic will also contest the remaining Endurance Cup races in the No. 47 Lamborghini, with Mark Kvamme so far confirmed for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
