United Signs Jamin to LMP2 Lineup

United Autosports has completed one of its two European Le Mans Series LMP2 driver lineups with the signing of Nico Jamin from category rival Panis Racing.

Jamin will team up with Job van Uitert and Manuel Maldonado in the No. 32 Oreca 07 Gibson for the upcoming season, which is due to start at Barcelona in April.

The Frenchman is set to represent a third different LMP2 team in as many years, having previously raced with Duqueine Engineering before joining Panis for 2020.

Jamin, Will Stevens and Julien Canal claimed a quartet of top-five finishes to end up fourth in the final standings.

Canal and Jamin then scored a 24 Hours of Le Mans class podium for Panis, along with Matthieu Vaxiviere, in a race that United won.

Before his season with Panis, Jamin spent two years with Duqueine working with the Oreca 07 package and also made several appearances in GT3 competition.

“I can’t express how thrilled I am to be joining United Autosports for the 2021 ELMS season as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said the 25-year-old from Rouen.

“They had such a tremendous 2020 campaign, winning pretty much everything that was there to grab.

“To have the opportunity to join them and fight for a championship together is such a privilege. I want to thank [United co-owners] Richard Dean and Zak Brown for the trust they have put in me, I am sure we will form a great partnership.

“I would like also to thank my partners for following me on this journey. I cannot wait to get to work.”

Dean added: “I have watched Nico for a while now as he has raced against us in the ELMS and Le Mans, so I am pleased he will now be part of our team.

“He has shown over the last few years in both ELMS and at the Le Mans 24 Hours that he has the speed to win races and championships, which is exactly our aim for 2021.”

United now has one more LMP2 seat to fill for its upcoming program.

A co-driver for defending drivers’ champion Phil Hanson and LMP3 title-winner Tom Gamble in the No. 22 Oreca has yet to be confirmed.
