Gulf 12H Returns to Yas Marina for Next Edition

The Gulf 12 Hours will return to Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi for its next edition which has been confirmed for January 8, 2022.

After switching to Bahrain International Circuit for its ninth running in January, the two-part enduro has been repositioned to its traditional venue for early next year.

Race promoter Driving Force Events has declared that the 10th edition will be held on the recently-revealed modified Yas Marina Grand Prix circuit configuration.

A major revamp of the Abu Dhabi GP venue includes the removal of the chicane before the first hairpin, the establishment of a banked single corner to replace Turns 11 through 14, and the widening of four corners in the ‘hotel’ section.

The last Gulf 12 Hours to be held at Yas Marina occurred in December 2019, when Attempto Racing won with an Audi R8 LMS GT3 driven by Christopher Mies, Dries Vanthoor and Rinat Salikhov.

McLaren squad 2 Seas Motorsport then prevailed on home soil in Bahrain with Ben Barnicoat, Isa Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Martin Kodric forming the winning crew.

“As the world gradually returns to normality, in January 2022 we plan to celebrate our 10th edition with a memorable event leveraging the experience of years and new ideas,” said Driving Force Events manager Andrea Ficarelli.

“We are looking forward to a full grid once again and to publish our preliminary entry list in the next few weeks.”

According to Driving Force Events, 34 grid places are open for the next edition of the Gulf 12 Hours. The field can include GT3, GT4 and Lamborghini Super Trofeo machinery.
