Christensen Joins CORE Porsche Lineup for Petit Le Mans

Porsche Junior Michael Christensen will complete CORE autosport’s lineup for this weekend’s Petit Le Mans, it was announced Monday.

The 23-year-old Dane, who competes in Porsche Supercup, joins factory driver Patrick Long and Colin Braun in the team’s No. 06 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR for the American Le Mans Series finale.

“I’m very much looking forward, and happy to have the opportunity, to compete at Petit Le Mans with CORE autosport in the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR,” Christensen said. “I know it will be a good experience for me, and something to learn a lot from.

“It will also be a great experience to drive on Road Atlanta for the first time in my career. I’m eager to arrive at the track as I’ve only have heard good things about it!”

Christensen will be making only his second start in the U.S., with his debut having come earlier this year at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in a Konrad Motorsport/Orbit Racing Porsche.

CORE is coming off a season-best second place finish at Virginia International Raceway and enters its final race as a Porsche customer.

The two-time and defending PC champions will become the German manufacturer’s operations partner for its factory GT Le Mans program in 2014.
