IMSA has made several staff changes to its competition department, with both Geoff Carter and Matt Kurdock assuming new or increased roles within the organization.
Announced to teams on Thursday evening, Carter, the Senior Director of Technical Regulations & Compliance, has assumed the new role of Senior Director, Series Platforms and will oversee and assist teams with pre-event planning, at-event support and event functions for all IMSA-sanctioned series.
The role is understood to have replaced IMSA’s previous positions of dedicated series managers, which were eliminated as part of a round of staff layoffs in May.
“Geoff’s decades of industry experience and his over five years of service here at IMSA will provide leadership in many important areas that serve IMSA’s entire community,” said IMSA President John Doonan.
Kurdock, who worked with Carter in IMSA’s technical department, has become the sanctioning body’s new Technical Director and will serve as the chairperson in the IMSA Technical Committee.
As part of his increased role, Kurdock will also lead IMSA’s Balance of Performance process and continue work on the LMDh regulations with constructors, suppliers and OEMS, along with helping shape current and future technical regulations and homologations.
“Matt’s experiences as an engineer and driver, as well as his sanctioning body experience, position him extremely well to lead IMSA in these important functions,” Doonan added.
Both will continue to report to Simon Hodgson, who has remained the VP of Competition.
