IMSA has released a capacity, 56-car entry list for the Battle of the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the penultimate round of both the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup seasons.
The entry comprizes of eleven GTP cars, ten LMP2 entries and 12 and 23 cars in GTD Pro and GTD, respectively.
Similar to the previous Endurance Cup round at Watkins Glen, most GTP squads have opted to use their two-driver lineup for the six-hour event, with three exceptions.
Tom Blomqvist is set to rejoin Pipo Derani and Jack Aitken aboard the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R for the first time since the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Cadillac, while Lamborghini Iron Lynx welcomes back Romain Grosjean to race alongside Andrea Caldarelli and Matteo Cairoli.
JDC-Miller Motorsports will contest the race with the same, three-driver crew as Watkins Glen.
Notably, the No. 33 Sean Creech Motorsport Ligier JS P217 Gibson has not been entered for Indianapolis, meaning the LMP2 class entirely consists of ORECA machinery for the first time since the start of the season.
With the absence of CrowdStrike Racing by APR and DragonSpeed’s move to GTD, it means the class is down three cars compared to Watkins Glen.
The only other change is the previously announced addition of Dylan Murry to the No. 88 AF Corse lineup, with the Silver-rated driver replacing Lilou Wadoux.
In GTD Pro, Neil Verhagen will rejoin Michelin GT Challenge at VIR winners Paul Miller Racing to share the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 with Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, SunEnergy1 Racing returns to the class for the first time since the Rolex 24 at Daytona, with the team opting for an all-Australian lineup as Jordan Love and Chaz Mostert join Kenny Habul aboard the No. 75 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Elsewhere in the class, DTM racer Maximilian Paul is set for his first WeatherTech Championship appearance since Daytona in 2022 aboard the No. 19 Iron Lynx Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2.
Paul’s co-driver is yet to be confirmed, with the clash between Indianapolis and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup round at Monza likely to be a factor.
Three out of four drivers who have driven the No. 19 in earlier races (Jordan Pepper, Franck Perera and Mirko Bortolotti) are likely to compete in Italy.
Additionally, with both Cairoli and Caldarelli entered into the No. 63 Lamborghini SC63 in the WeatherTech Championship’s top class, it means Iron Lynx will likely also have to alter its lineup for the three-hour event in Monza.
In GTD, Korthoff Preston Motorsports is expected to have Mike Skeen alongside Mikael Grenier and Kenton Koch, although not confirmed on the entry list.
As revealed by Sportscar365 last month, Kellymoss with Riley will return to the GTD ranks with a Porsche 911 GT3 R for Kay van Berlo, Riley Dickinson and Jake Pedersen, while Inception Racing’s switch to a Ferrari 296 GT3 has been made official as well.
The No. 43 Andretti Motorsports Porsche is listed after missing the previous rounds at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Road America and VIR.
Ben Barker replaces Ryan Hardwick aboard the No. 55 Proton Competition Ford Mustang GT3, while the No. 83 Iron Dames Lamborghini returns to WeatherTech Championship competition for the first time since Sarah Bovy’s crash at Watkins Glen.
