Kellymoss with Riley will return to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition at next month’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a new driver lineup and Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Jake Pedersen is set to be joined by Porsche Selected Driver Program North America pilots Kay van Berlo and Riley Dickinson in the team’s No. 90 Porsche, which will run in the GTD class for the six-hour Michelin Endurance Cup round.

It will mark both Pedersen and Dickinson’s WeatherTech Championship debuts, while van Berlo returns to the team that he contested the 2023 WeatherTech Championship season with, highlighted by a class win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Kellymoss with Riley withdrew from full-time GTD competition following January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona following car owner David Brule’s decision to retire from top-level racing.

The No. 90 car, which is an all-new chassis, was used in a test at The Brickyard with all three drivers earlier this week, in preparation for the Sept. 20-22 event.

“The test went really well,” Kellymoss co-owner Andy Kilcoyne told Sportscar365. “We only had a few days to get the car ready and together but overall, we’re very happy with it.

“Jake’s pace was really good and very strong. It was Riley’s first time in a GT3 R, so it was an acclimation period for him but he did a great job.

“They’re all on par and on pace.”

While Kilcoyne confirmed the team has also registered an entry for October’s season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans, it will be waiting to see how the first outing at Indianapolis goes first before officially committing to the ten-hour enduro at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

“We’re going to take it one day at a time,” he said. “We did the test at Indy, we’re going to do the race at Indy and then re-evaluate where we’re at after that.”

Kilcoyne said it’s still “a little early” to see if this dip into WeatherTech Championship competition for Silver-rated Pedersen could lead into a full-time effort in 2025.

Pedersen has been running in both Michelin Pilot Challenge and Porsche Carrera Cup North America with the Wisconsin-based team, while also contesting selected Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS races in a RS1-entered Porsche.

“I think he’s trying to decide where he wants to be,” Kilcoyne said. “He really loved driving the GT3 R, so that’s been great. Kay has been coaching him most of the season, since after Sebring, and has been doing a great job.

“We’ve been seeing really solid improvements in doing two-car work in testing and really happy with Jake’s progression.

“He’s a really nice young man. He and his family are a pleasure to be around and it’s just great to see someone who has growing passion and really wants to succeed.”
