Sebastien Bourdais kept Chip Ganassi Racing atop the time charts in the second and final practice session of the day in Detroit for Saturday’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic.
The Frenchman reeled off a best lap of 1:19.307 late in the two-hour session to edge out the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura ARX-05 of Ricky Taylor by 0.213 seconds.
Alex Lynn was third quickest in the No. 02 CGR Cadillac DPi-V.R that had topped the time charts in opening practice in the hands of Earl Bamber.
The No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura DPi of Tom Blomqvist was fourth, with Tristan Vautier completing the top-five in the No. 5 JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac.
GTD was led by the No. 17 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 of Kyle Kirkwood, who outpaced the No. 32 Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Mike Skeen by a mere 0.007 seconds.
Skeen tied with Wright Motorsports’ Jan Heylen with an identical 1:30.000 lap time, with the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus of Frankie Montecalvo just 0.020 seconds behind in fourth.
The No. 27 The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Roman De Angelis completed the top-five in class.
There were no major incidents in the session although the No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes of Philip Ellis brushed the wall again after losing out on the opening 30 minutes of the session due to repairs from a hit with the wall in opening practice.
The No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 also missed the opening part of the session.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 5:30 p.m. ET.
