CarBahn with Peregrine Racing will miss this weekend’s Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park due to chassis damage sustained on its Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
The accident, triggered by contact between two LMP2 cars, sent Jeff Westphal hard into the wall in the closing stages of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship enduro, with heavy front-end damage to the GTD class entry.
Westphal, who was uninjured in the crash, reveled to Sportscar365 that the Steve Dinan-led team is working on a solution to have a replacement chassis potentially in place by next month’s round at Lime Rock Park.
However, given the timing and level of preparation needed, the team has ruled out competing at CTMP this weekend.
Westphal was due to share the Lamborghini with season-long co-driver Robert Megennis.
It has resulted in a reduced field of 25 total entries, including six GTD cars for the WeatherTech Sprint Cup-only round.
The No. 13 AWA Duqueine D08 Nissan, the other severely damaged car from Watkins Glen, was repaired on-site at The Glen following the race and will be ready for the team’s home race at CTMP, according to a team spokesperson.
