DXDT Racing will step up to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a full-season Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R effort in GTD, the team has announced.

The North Carolina-based squad will field the No. 36 Chevrolet for the full, eleven-round schedule, which kicks off with the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Jan. 25-26.

It joins AWA as the other full-season GTD entry for Corvette, with the Andrew Wojteczko-led squad confirming its plans back in August.

With DXDT’s addition, the brand will again be represented by two full-season entries in GTD after AWA scaled down to a single car in the wake after Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Cadillac earlier this year.

DXDT has enjoyed significant success in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS after switching from Mercedes-AMG over the winter.

After debuting the car at Circuit of The Americas in May, Alec Udell and Tommy Milner embarked on a run of eight consecutive Pro victories and only missed out on the championship to Wright Motorsports at the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS finale.

“I’m really excited to take what is a big step for DXDT to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in GTD next year,” said team owner David Askew.

“I began racing and working on building this team with the idea of eventually getting to IMSA, and everything that I’ve been doing over the past 10 years has been designed to help me achieve that goal.

“Erin Gahagan as the team manager has been instrumental in helping make this happen, and with the addition of Bryan Sellers to our front office, I think that we now have the right footing to take this step.

“The relationship that we’ve been building with GM and Pratt Miller is a big part of what we needed to compete successfully at the highest level.

“What we’ve done this year has shown us that, together, we can fight for podiums and wins anywhere we go.

“I’m looking forward to many years racing in the IMSA WeatherTech series. This is a huge turning point for the team, I can’t wait to see what happens in the future.”

DXDT recently announced that two-time GTD champion Bryan Sellers will take on an expanded role as program manager with the team.

“This is a very exciting time for everybody at DXDT Racing,” said Sellers.

“This is something that David [Askew] has aspired to do for quite a long time, and it’s something that we are all very much looking forward to getting the opportunity to do.

“We’ve been trying to put this program together for a couple of years now and have just been waiting for the right time and the right partnership. “

“Being able to pair with GM and Pratt Miller has given us the ability to move into this new program with confidence in what we’re capable of, while also being able to rely on their capabilities as well.

“We’re all very excited about the opportunity to grow the program in one of the best sports car racing series in the world.”
