With Fall-Line Motorsports still coming to grips with the Audi R8 LMS package, the team has drafted in Marino Franchitti for this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America.

Franchitti will join Charlie Putnam in the No. 46 Audi, with regular full-season co-driver Charles Espenlaub sitting out Sunday’s two-hour and 45-minute race in order to bring in a fresh pair of eyes to the program.

“I am very excited to have Marino join us and I am so proud of our team for coming together and recognizing that we can all benefit from the addition of someone as talented as Marino,” said team manager Michael Harvey.

“I would like to thank Charlie, Charles and Mark [Boden, team owner] for appreciating that a team is bigger than any individual and we really look forward to the remainder of the season.”

Franchitti, who will be making his third TUDOR United SportsCar Championship start of the year and first since winning the Twelve Hours of Sebring with Chip Ganassi Racing, is excited for the new opportunity.

“It was great to get the call from Michael to come and drive with Fall-Line at Road America and I’m really looking forward to working with the team, Charlie, and Charles this weekend,” he said.

“Hopefully I can bring a fresh perspective to the program and help the team on the road back to the kind of performances they’re capable of.”

The Fall-Line team currently sits 15th in the GT Daytona teams’ championship, in what’s been a challenging first full-season effort with the mid-engined sports car.
