Haupt Racing Team has announced that its managing director Ulrich Fritz has become a shareholder of the team.
Fritz, the former CEO of HWA, who has led the German squad since 2021, will assume additional managerial responsibilities and play a more active role in shaping HRT’s future.
Since its founding in 2020, HRT has quickly established itself as a major player in international motorsports.
Under the leadership of Fritz, the team has undergone targeted development in recent years, most notably forging a partnership with Ford Racing across multiple GT3 championships in Europe.
HRT operates cars in Intercontinental GT Challenge, GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, DTM, ADAC GT Masters, NLS, including key endurance races such as the Nürburgring 24 and CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.
The company share that Fritz has taken has not been disclosed, other than it is a “significant stake” in the company, which is majority-owned by the Haupt family.
Team founder Hubert Haupt sold his stake in the company at the end of 2023, but remained closely involved with the team, supporting its development both in an advisory role and actively as a driver.
The Haupt family is now once again the majority shareholder.
“Becoming a co-owner is a completely logical step for me,” said Fritz. “From the very beginning, I’ve run HRT as if it was my own company: with a lot of passion and a commitment to sustainable, healthy growth.
“This investment now gives me the opportunity to play an even more active role in shaping HRT’s future.”
Hubert Haupt added: “Ulrich Fritz has played a pivotal role in the development of HRT over the past few years.
“He has made a decisive contribution to our sporting and economical achievements. His involvement sends an important signal regarding our stable future development, with clear ambitions in international motorsports and beyond.”
