Dillmann Sets Silverstone FP2 Pace for Inter Europol

Inter Europol Competition driver Tom Dillmann set the pace in second practice ahead of this weekend’s 4 Hours of Silverstone European Le Mans Series round in a session that came to an early conclusion.

The No. 43 Oreca 07 Gibson clocked a time of 1:43.713 to end up over three tenths of a second faster than the opposition, headed by Jake Hughes — who was competing on home soil aboard the No. 25 Algarve Pro Racing machine.

Third fastest was Adrien Closmenil aboard the No. 37 CLX Motorsport car on a 1:44.290, while fourth place was held by Job van Uitert in the No. 28 IDEC Sport Oreca on a 1:44.447.

The top-six was then completed by No. 10 Vector Sport entry of Pietro Fittipaldi and the first of the drivers that jointly headed the points entering the penultimate round of the season: Oliver Gray aboard the No. 29 Forestier Racing by Panis machine.

Fastest Pro-Am contender was Louis Deletraz in the No. 99 AO by TF Sport Oreca that was eighth quickest overall with a 1:44.817.

The session ended early with a red flag with just five minutes to go following an incident for the No. 3 DKR Engineering Oreca of Marlon Hernandez exiting Copse.

Prior to that, FP2 had been less disrupted than Friday’s first practice, which featured two red flags, as there were just two brief Full-Course Yellows before the early stoppage.

The LMP3 division was dominated by the only Duqueine D09 Toyota in the field as Hugo Schwarze posted a 1:54.232 in the No. 85 R-ace GP car to end up over six tenths faster than the points-leading No. 17 CLX Ligier JS P325 of Louis Iglesias.

The sole McLaren 720S GT3 Evo was quickest of the LMGT3 contenders, with Wayne Boyd posting a 1:58.724 in the United Autosports machine that later caused an FCY caution when it came to stop on the pit entry with Michael Birch at the wheel.

Boyd was nearly three tenths quicker than Valentin Haase-Clot aboard the No. 59 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.

Third fastest was the No. 57 Kessel Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo of Daniel Serra, albeit six tenths adrift of Boyd’s pace, while the sister No. 74 Ferrari of Fran Rueda was fourth.

Sergio Sette Camara ensured there were four different brands represented in the top-five by going fifth fastest in the No. 63 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

The No. 50 AF Corse Ferrari that got caught up in a collision at Becketts during FP1 did not take part in the session and has withdrawn from the event.

Teams and drivers will now turn their attention to qualifying, which is due to get under way at 2:55 p.m. BST (9:55 a.m. EST) with the LMGT3 contenders set to be first on track.
