Corvette Racing continued to lead the way at Virginia International Raceway, with the No. 3 Corvette C7.R of Jan Magnussen topping the time charts in Practice 3 for the Michelin GT Challenge.
Magnussen laid down a fast lap of 1:41.637 in final practice, the quickest time of the weekend so far, and 0.025 seconds quicker than the No. 66 Ford GT of Dirk Mueller.
Dirk Werner made it three different manufacturers in the top-three in GT Le Mans, thanks to a 1:41.677 lap in his No. 25 BMW Team RLL BMW M6 GTLM.
Giancarlo Fisichella, rebounding from co-driver Toni Vilander’s accident in FP2, was fourth in the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE, with Richard Westbrook completing the top-five.
Lamborghini dominated the GT Daytona class again, with Madison Snow and Corey Lewis leading a 1-2 for the Italian manufacturer, and Cedric Sbirrazzuoli making it three raging bulls in the top-four.
Snow’s 1:43.864 lap time in the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Huracan GT3 was 0.262 seconds quicker than Lewis’ No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini.
The No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS of Lawson Aschenbach was third, ahead of Sbirrazzuoli’s Dream Racing Lamborghini, which had a slight off-course excursion in the hands of Larry DeGeorge.
Conditions were cooler Saturday morning, with ambient temperatures in the mid-70s, but still humid.
Qualifying for the GTLM and GTD-only race is set for 11:55 a.m. ET.
