Alice Powell will make her IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut at Virginia International Raceway later this month as part of Meyer Shank Racing’s all-female Heinricher Racing entry.
She will join full-season driver Katherine Legge in the No. 57 Acura NSX GT3 Evo.
Powell finished third in the recently concluded W Series season, taking victory in the final race at Brands Hatch last weekend.
Figueiredo and Christina Nielsen have joined Legge in the Heinricher-entered Acura at different points of the season so far, but Powell will take the second seat at VIR.
Nielsen will be competing in the Suzuka 10 Hours on the same weekend as the VIR race, driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3 entered by Strakka Racing, while Figueiredo is also unavailable due to her Brazilian Stock Car series commitments.
“I am very excited to be joining Heinricher Racing and Meyer Shank Racing for the next round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship,” she said.
“This is such a successful and well-respected team. I am looking forward to working with them and settling into driving the Acura NSX GT3.
“It will be my first time racing in the States and only the second endurance race of my career, so I am very keen to experience VIR.”
