Skeer Paces Second VIR Practice

Elliott Skeer put the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R on the top of the overall time sheets in the second practice session of the weekend for the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.

Skeer’s 1:43.570 lap time in the GTD class entry outpaced the GTD Pro pace-setting No. 23 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Alex Riberas by 0.008 seconds.

Loris Spinelli was third quickest overall and second int he GTD class in the No. 78 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 , followed by the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth.

The No. 4 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R of Tommy Milner completed the overall top-five.

The 1 hour and 45-minute session, which ran without any red flags, featured several incidents, including an off-course excursion by Brendan Iribe in the No. 70 Inception Racing McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.

Russell Ward also made slight contact with the barriers that resulted in minor damage to the GTD championship-leading No. 57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Both of the factory-supported Corvettes also had off-course moments before continuing.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 4:50 p.m. EDT with live coverage on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
