Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport has set the lineup for its returning four-car effort in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, featuring a stable of five drivers.
The Indianapolis-based team will have entries in three classes, headlined by defending Pro champions Kyle Marcelli and Danny Formal, who return to the No. 1 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2.
In the run to the 2022 championship, Marcelli and Formal captured five wins, with the upcoming campaign marking their third consecutive year together as co-drivers.
“It will be business as usual for Danny and me in the No. 1 car, and I look forward to getting the band back together,” said Marcelli.
“Of course, winning races and winning the North America team and driver championships is our goal, and we’ve got unfinished business at the World Finals.”
Formal added: “[I’m] super grateful for this opportunity to represent the No. 1 car and to help everyone under the tent, improve their driving and skill level through the through the year.”
Open-wheel turned sports car racer Ryan Norman will join Marcelli and Formal in the Pro class, piloting the No. 84 Lamborghini.
Norman, who was been part of Andretti Autosport’s driver lineup in Indy Lights, made his IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge debut in 2020, claiming three wins with Bryan Herta Autosport.
“It is a great honor for me to be driving for such a respected and successful team and with Lamborghini Palm Beach,” said Norman.
“I’ve already had the experience of driving for Andretti Autosport for three years in Indy Lights and am excited to be part of this new team partnership.
“Everything just feels right and I’m looking forward to expanding my sports car racing career.”
Former Pilot Challenge GS champion Nate Stacy, meanwhile, will also make his Super Trofeo debut at the wheel of the No. 8 Lamborghini that will contest the Pro-Am class.
Stacy co-drove to the 2020 Pilot Challenge GS title with Marcelli.
“I’m super excited to be joining the WTR Andretti team,” said Stacy. “I’ve watched them for years and it never crossed my mind that I’d be a part of it.
“It’s an amazing opportunity and I hope to make the most of it.”
Seventeen-year-old Graham Doyle will complete the team’s lineup, competing in the LB Cup class.
“This driver development program will set me up for success,” Doyle said. “I saw WTR Andretti as the only option if I wanted to take my racing career seriously. I can’t wait to get the season started.”
The Super Trofeo season kicks off next weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
