World Speed Motorsports will make its return to IMSA-sanctioned competition with a two-car effort in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America.
The California-based team, veterans of the U.S. junior open wheel ranks, will field a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 for Sean Prewett and Carter Williams, with Dan Decker set to start the season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca driving solo in the second entry.
“We have always loved running with IMSA, from Star to GT3 Cup and IMSA Lites,” said team principal Telo Stewart. “It will be great to be in the Super Trofeo.
“We have had our eyes on it for a couple of years. We think it is a good fit for our team, and many of our current drivers.”
The team will be managed by operations manager Jan Trojan, who has been with World Speed since 2005, having played a key part in its multiple U.S. F3 and F4 championships in recent years.
“I am looking forward to this program,” said Trojan. “It will be an opportunity for us to implement a new program from the ground-up.”
While Prewett and Williams are set for a full season campaign, Decker is expected to have a rotating cast of co-drivers following Laguna Seca.
