Deliveries of the all-new Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo are set to be made to North America and Asia customers early next year according to Head of Lamborghini Motorsport Andrea Reggiani.

The Italian manufacturer, which previously confirmed plans to introduce the twin-turbo V8-powered car into Super Trofeo Europe, North America and Asia competition in the same year, is on track to deliver up to 100 of the cars across the regional single-make series.

“It’s a brave plan to roll out the car to all championships at the same time and not run the Huracan,” Reggiani told Sportscar365. “I’m confident that it will work well because of the reliability we’ve seen with the Temerario GT3.

“Commercially we see a lot of interest from our current customers and also from new customers, also some new teams, considering it is a new platform, a new car.

“Also for the teams, it’s a great time to swap because they will start the new season on the same level as the teams that have been racing with the Huracan for maybe ten years.

“I’m sure we’ll see some new teams also on the grid in our championships next year.”

Reggiani said U.S. and Asian customers will receive their cars first due to the proximity of their respective season openers at Sebring International Raceway and Sepang International Circuit in mid-March and early April, respectively.

The Super Trofeo Europe season won’t start until May 21-23 at Imola, a move Reggiani said was down to event availability and not race car production.

“The first race of the Temerario Super Trofeo worldwide will be at Sebring,” he said. “We are planning a delivery schedule to match this, clearly.

“The U.S. and Asia will get the cars first. Europe will start a little bit later. But the production plan is to have all the cars ready for all the championships by the end of March.

“We started the production in the beginning of the summer. We are currently producing the cars, and are testing the cars.

“As soon as the cars will be ready, they’ll be shipped in batches to the U.S. and Asia. I guess we will ship the first cars in the beginning of next year.

“It will take time to arrive, so the teams will have a couple of weeks to prepare the cars before the first race.”

Lamborghini has already organized two tests with prospective customers, the first having been at Varano in Italy last month, along with a two-day test in Barcelona following the recent Super Trofeo Europe round.

“I have to say that has also been very good because the comments have been overwhelmingly positive,” said Reggiani. “They all like the car.

“Clearly the performance is way higher than the Huracan. They all enjoy how the car is controllable, good to drive and that was with the basic setup that clearly was the same for everybody.

“But we’ve developed the car to have a big operating window, so it could be adjusted for different level of drivers.

“The first comments were very, very positive for sure.”

Unlike the Huracan Super Trofeo, which was built on a platform closer to the production car, the Temerario Super Trofeo shares a majority of the components with the recently launched GT3 model, including the same chassis and four-liter V8 engine, but with a different turbo.

“It’s also very interesting because it will make it very easy in the future [for drivers to] progress from Super Trofeo to the GT3,” Reggiani added.
