Lamborghini is building approximately 100 new Temerario Super Trofeo racers in time for a simultaneous introduction across its three one-make series in Europe, North America and Asia next year.

Andrea Reggiani, the new boss of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse in-house motorsport department, explained that there is a “very detailed production plan in place” to ensure a full grid of cars is ready to replace the outgoing Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 for the start of each championship in 2027.

“I have no doubts that the production plan will be matched and on schedule,” Reggiani told reporters at last weekend’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

“We will have to be very organized and structured to provide all the support to teams starting running a new model to help them build the knowledge to manage the car properly.

“We have time to plan, and we will deliver on that as well.”

Reggiani said the car shown for the first time in its final form at the Lamborghini Arena event at Imola near the marque’s Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters in May has already proved reliable in testing.

Lamborghini’s latest one-make race car builds on the experience of Temerario GT3, which entered competition this year.

Differences between the two cars include the use on the Super Trofeo of turbochargers borrowed from the road-going Temerario.

The arrival of the latest Super Trofeo racer will coincide with a second wave of deliveries of the new GT3 car.

Lamborghini chose to undertake a limited year-one release of the successor to the long-serving Huracan GT3 with existing partner teams.

Seven cars are racing across the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance and Sprint Cups, and the DTM this year.

Reggiani explained that there is significant interest in the car from both existing Lamborghini teams still running the Huracan GT3 EVO2 and those that would be new to the marque’s roster.

“We have requests from teams racing in nearly all the [GT3] series all over the globe, from Asia, from Europe, from the USA, certainly from the teams that are already with us,” he said.

“But also it is surprising how many teams who are not racing with us at the moment are approaching us to see if there are opportunities for the future.

“We don’t know the number of cars that will race next year, but for sure it will be several more than this year, with more teams and in more championships.”

He explained that there remain “a lot of moving parts” as it puts together deals with teams to race the Temerario in 2027 and that decisions will be made on “a case by case basis.”

“The ones we will add will depend on the package, the team, the drivers and the support we can provide,” he said.

FIA GT3 rules require that a manufacturer must sell 20 examples of a new car in the first two seasons after its homologation.

Reggiani would not be drawn on whether Grasser Racing Team and Rutronik Racing in GTWC Europe, would expand its programs from their present one-car entries.

It’s already known that Pfaff Motorsports has no current plans to run as a two-car WeatherTech Championship operation.

Reggiani revealed that it is unlikely that Squadra Corse will opt to introduce an evolution version of the GT3 for its second season of competition.

“We are focussing on maximizing the potential of what we have,” he said.

“We will improve all the things that we are allowed to improve within the homologation limits and then think about an evo.”
