Noaker Tops Opening Practice at COTA

Robert Noaker topped the time charts in the opening Mustang Challenge practice session of the weekend at Circuit of The Americas, leading a 1-2 for Robert Noaker Racing.

Noaker reeled off a best lap time of 2:23.341 in his No. 13 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R late in the 30-minute session to pip teammate Reid Sweeney by 0.588 seconds.

Trenton Estep, who is making his debut in the single-make series aboard the No. 16 MDK Motorsports entry, was third quickest with Dark Horse points leader Tyler Maxson fourth quickest, in another RNR Mustang.

Brandon Gdovic completed the top-five in his Precision Performance Motorsports entry.

The Dark Horse Legends class was led by the No. 19 Skip Barber Racing Mustang of Mike Stillwagon, thanks to a 2:26.144 lap time.

It was nearly three-tenths quicker than Zachry Lee in the No. 48 McCumbee McAleer Racing entry.

There were no significant incidents in the session, which marked the first on-track action for the Lone Star Le Mans weekend.

Practice 2 is on tap for 2:35 p.m. CDT.
