Kevin Stadtlander will make his racing return, having joined JDX Racing for the upcoming Porsche Carrera Cup North America season.
Stadtlander, who will compete in the Masters class, is an interventional radiologist at Cleveland Clinic Florida where he specializes in performing minimally invasive image-guided surgical procedures to treat vascular disease, improve women’s health, and to care for transplant and cancer patients.
While his last full-season race effort was 16 years ago in the ST class of what is now Michelin Pilot Challenge, he most recently ran the Pilot Challenge season opener at Daytona in an Aston Martin GT4 in the GS class, earning a runner-up finish amongst Bronze drivers.
Last fall, he raced the previous-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the Michelin 992 Endurance Cup race at Spa.
“I have been a lifetime Porsche fanatic, and to have the opportunity to race the latest, and arguably best Cup Car ever, is a dream come true,” said Stadtlander.
“This car speaks my language, and it really is a scalpel for the track. I’m looking forward to teaming with Jeremy Dale, Harrison Brix and the full crew at JDX Racing to see how well I can perform this season on the track.”
Stadtlander joins a four-car JDX effort during the season-opener at Sebring, including previously announced drivers Sabre Cook, Callum Hedge and Connor Bloum in the Pro class.
“We have been talking to Kevin about this opportunity for some time and are thrilled that he’s ready to get back into the car with us,” said team principal Jeremy Dale.
“Our plan is to help him get the most out of this brand-new Porsche 911 Cup car and make sure he still has time to help out his patients at Cleveland Clinic the rest of the week.”
