Nolasport and driver Adam Adelson have announced their expansion into the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge series beginning this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Adelson currently campaigns Nolaspsort’s Porsche 718 GT4 RS Clubsport entry in the Michelin Pilot Challenge with co-driver Elliott Skeer, and the pair is inside the top-10 of the GS class championship standings after scoring three top-five finishes so far this season.
VP Racing Challenge will be the fourth series for Adelson to contest this year, as he and Skeer also are teamed up for an entry in Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, as well as competing in GT America powered by AWS.
The duo earned their first victory in May driving a Porsche 911 GT3 R and are leaders of the GTWC America Pro-Am class championship, one year after finishing runner-up together in Pirelli GT4 America.
Similarly, the move adds another series to Nolasport’s own busy calendar this year, competing with two cars in Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America and with three cars in Pirelli GT4 America.
Adelson will individually campaign the No. 46 Porsche in the GSX class, which boasts 16 entries heading into CTMP.
Featuring two, 45-minute races, the weekend north of the border is the series’ third of the season, with three others to follow at Lime Rock Park in late July, Virginia International Raceway in August, and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
“I’m really excited to be participating in the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge,” said Adelson. “It’s a great platform for Silver-rated drivers to learn how to deal with out-of-class traffic and it’s really unique having both GT4-class race cars out there with prototypes.
“I think it’s a great series to learn the nuances of multi-class traffic management, while still being able to drive in machinery that may not be as fast or expensive as GT3-class race cars and higher class prototypes.
“I’m really excited about the additional track time as well, as I’m still an amateur driver looking to improve any way that I can. I know this extra track time and extra races are going to be valuable in that process.”
