Lamborghini has presented more details of its new Essenza SCV12 track-only hypercar developed by the Italian manufacturer’s Squadra Corse motorsport department.
A month after some new dynamic shots of the V12-powered machine were published, Lamborghini has released more information about the 830-plus horsepower machine.
The SCV12 houses the most powerful V12 engine that Lamborghini has ever built, and a new chassis-integrated six-speed sequential gearbox developed by Xtrac.
Motorsport influence can be found throughout the car, including in the aerodynamic design where Lamborghini has introduced a double air intake installed on the hood.
This separates the hot air coming from the radiator and sends cold air to the scoop located on the roof, resembling the approach taken for Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo cars.
The back of the vehicle features an adjustable double-profile rear wing, while Lamborghini claims the total downforce is higher than that of its Huracan GT3 Evo racer.
Other racing-inspired elements include a push-rod suspension, slick Pirelli tires mounted on magnesium rims and brake discs and calipers developed by Brembo Motorsport.
A limited run of 40 units will be produced while customers will become part of an “exclusive club” with opportunities to drive the car on circuits around the world.
The 2021 track calendar will involve ‘arrive and drive’ events held at FIA Grade 1-homologated circuits with full Lamborghini technical support and assistance from five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro and factory driver Marco Mapelli.
Essenza SCV12s will be stored and maintained at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, where a 24-hour camera system will be set up to allow customers to monitor their purchases through an app.
The design of the car was directed by Lamborghini Centro Stile, which has incorporated a Formula 1-style steering wheel into the stripped-down cockpit.
“Essenza SCV12 represents the purest track driving experience that our brand can offer, an engineering feat that highlights the inextricable link between our cars and the asphalt of the track,” said Lamborghini CEO and chairman Stefano Domenicali.
“Lamborghini is a brand constantly looking to the future and searching for new challenges, but we never forget our roots and who we are: Essenza SCV12 is the perfect combination of our unconventional spirit as a super sports car manufacturer and our true passion for motorsport.”
