Maxime Martin will return to BMW as a factory driver in 2023, signing with the German manufacturer after leaving Aston Martin.
The Belgian departed Aston Martin after a five-year stint following Motul Petit Le Mans, having previously joined there from BMW.
He previously served as a factory driver with the Munich brand from 2013 to 2017.
During that period, he most notably won the Spa 24 Hours alongside Philipp Eng and Alexander Sims in 2016.
Further accomplishments include three race victories in DTM and a class podium in the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
“I am definitely really excited about the new challenge and to come back to BMW after five years,” said Martin.
“It will be great to see a lot of people I know again, a lot of people I have worked with.
“To be able to be there and work there again is amazing. I am looking forward to the future and the coming projects.”
Martin is one of a number of high-profile signings made by BMW in recent months.
In August, Rene Rast also joined its factory driver roster, signing after leaving Audi.
BMW said that details of Martin’s race program will be announced “at a later date.”
“Welcome back, Maxime Martin,” added Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport.
“Maxime is one of the most versatile drivers in international motor racing.
“He is fast, talented, works hard, and comes with an incredible wealth of experience of both sprint and endurance racing.
“His many successes speak for themselves. Maxime is also a great guy, and it is excellent to have him back in our BMW M Motorsport family.
“We are looking forward to continuing our joint success story in the coming season.”
